Here Today Gone Tomorrow

On the advice of another blogger, I am publicly posting my adventures in slimmatude... my latest effort at losing weight. I feel this time will be different than all that have come beforehand for several reasons:

  • Now married, my wife seriously cares about my health and will enforce my loss schedule and actions in a positive and loving fashion. Previous attemps were enforced by... me - not especially effective.
  • This baby's gone public. By blogging, recording my efforts, showing of my loveliness, and being on show I hope to get help from friends, family and random readers. Comment on my posts. Point out if I'm not keeping up. Send me your tips and advice.
  • Dad. Soon to be one myself, I am constantly aware of the fact that mine is no longer with us. His loss was random and not due to any unhealthy trait or lifestyle, but rather due to illness. None-the-less, I can lessen my chances of leaving early (as often pointed out by my wonderful wife) buy losing weight and getting in better shape.
Future Posts: ... Stay Tuned!

  • Weight Updates: graphical and pictorial.
  • My weight and my sense of humor.
  • What do you think are my chances?
  • Got any ideas for me?
  • Is there a good way to document this online for all to see that I don't know about yet?
  • Wanna donate a bike?
  • Should I establish a donate here button so people can help me reach my goal dollar to pound? Would you donate more if half the money raised was given to charity?

I'm not one to talk, but I did lose a few pounds (and felt a whole lot better) by eliminating soda entirely. The only drinks I keep in my apartment are water (which I occasionally brew into homemade iced tea, a nice way to spice up the drink). Add slices of cucumber, lemon, or lime to funk up the taste a little.

I think this is a great idea! Maybe this will send you off on a good start (it advocates chocolate for breakfast!):

Good luck Dave!

The battle of the bulge is being waged everywhere... or at least should be. I keep intending to lose weigh, but never get around to doing anything about it.

congrats on your decision!
all those reasons should keep you going.

tip: the new celebrity fad that has just started, yet the one my grandmother has been on since as long I can remember is - eating food groups separately. For example, you have a protein meal. chicken with no potatoes! when you eat carbs, eat the carbs with no protein..etc.

let me know if you want to hear more!
Best of luck!

@Moshe Great point! I;m a juice, ice tea or water guy. Think sticking to water only would help? I'm not sure I could do it...

@Dunnitagain C is for cookie, which I guess are no longer good enough for me. For me, its more eliminating snacking. But I get so hungry during the day while sitting at my desk. great suggestion!

@Dali You link didn't work for me, but thanks for the support!

@Stone Join my adventure and document your trials along with me. Keep commenting and thanks for the well wishes!

@Eve210 I DO want to hear more! Send me a detailed email to weinberg81@gmail.com and maybe I can repost some of it here. I like eating military style anyway, keep things separate, but I haven't tried as totally separate meals. Worth a shot. Thanks for the encouragement!

Hey Dave!
I was so excited to hear the baby news. Good luck with the diet - I keep some snacks at my desk - almonds, dried apricot, fresh fruit - and I usually have a yogurt (fat free/low fat) in the fridge at the office. It is important to have healthy snacks around. Don't skip meals! You have to eat, just eat right : )

Hi Dave,
Wow! I wish you all the Hatzlacha and Bracha. You really have inspired me to try and lose some weight myself. I'll try to keep you posted although I am not so well versed in the new aged blog mechanism.
All the best

@Molly Good advice, I keep rice cakes (now out of them) and crystal light in my drawer. I used to have berries, maybe I'll step up to yogurt!

@Mike Welcome to my blogosphere! Me inspirational?... doubtful, but thanks! I guess its only fair payback then for all your years of friendship and motivation. Regards to the family!
